Veronica McDade, One of CCAP/Loaves & Fishes Volunteers Was Awarded the McMurran Scholar!

Veronica McDade was inducted along with 26 other Shepherd University students into its most exclusive honor society during a virtual ceremony. McMurran Scholar is the highest academic honor awarded at Shepherd. Criteria includes maintaining a minimum 3.86 quality point average and being nominated by a minimum of three faculty members and approved by the faculty at large.
Veronica McDade shared a bit about her life with our board President, Beverly VanMetre: “I have been volunteering with food banks most of my life, whether I was collecting food donations or serving meals in my community. I absolutely love being able to serve others in this way, so much so that I want to make a career out of it. I am currently pursuing my MBA at Shepherd University and volunteering at CCAP to gain more experience with how non-profits operate, and I am very grateful to be involved with CCAP while I finish school. In the past few months, I have gained immense knowledge and experience with CCAP, and I am so fortunate to have the opportunity to volunteer here. My goal is to begin my career at a food pantry, hopefully coordinating community programs and doing work similar to what I am doing now at CCAP.”
